The Open and Registration Day for the 2011-12 season will be on Saturday 10th September, 9am-1pm, wet or fine. As usual we shall hope to have some junior activities on court, newcomers can have a hit, and we'll have a sausage sizzle going.

Ever wanted to start or get back into Tennis? Here's your Chance! National Tennis Open Day is Sunday 13th February, anytime between 12pm - 3pm at Maungaraki Tennis Club.

It doesn't matter what your ability is, we cater for and welcome everyone! Come down and have a go, we look forward to seeing you.

Maungaraki men's division one team finished in first place in the Hutt Valley pre xmas interclub round earning them promotion into the regional grades. This will be the first time since the 93-94 season that the club has had regional one and regional three teams.

The men's division three team finished in second place earning them promotion into division two.

The junior Girls' Premier A grade team finished second in the pre xmas round.

There was a good gathering of members at the Winter Yankee Tournament and Annual Prizegiving, at which Life membership was awarded to long term member Harry Stewart. You can read the publications about Harry in the Hutt News and Maungaraki Views here.

Our Senior club champs were concluded on Sunday 18th April, with a finals day played in perfect weather conditions.

A grade winners were:
Mens Singles - Angus White,
Womens Singles - Jan Milne,
Mens Doubles - Angus White & Jason Kane,
Womens Doubles - Jan & Lucy Milne,
Mixed Doubles - Blair Stanfield & Jeanette Stanley.

Our Senior interclub teams had good success in most grades, in particular: Mens Regional 1 finishing 2nd, Mens Div 1 finishing 3rd, Mens Div 2 finishing 2nd.

For St Patrick's Day the thriving Twilight section of our club hold a fun Yankee tournament where green fancy dress is popular! Seeing some of the costumes and silly hats bobbing aorund on the court is sure to bring a smile!

The Maungaraki Tennis Club Grasshopper mini-tournament on 28th March was a great success. The weather was kind, and 30 children from the Maungaraki, Korokoro, Normandale and other locations in the Hutt Valley had a fantastic afternoon!

The tournament was aimed at 5-10 year olds who had not played much or any tennis, and all available places were quickly filled. There were 7 games each on special mini-courts, with winners in each age group being those with the most points overall. After the tournament, all the children enjoyed a sausage sizzle.
