New Courts ready

Our courts are back in action from today, having been resurfaced and looking very smart in blue.

new courts

Given our courts are now in such good condition, this is a timely reminder that the courts are for tennis.  Please have a word if you see any activity regarding anything that could damage the courts like rollerblades, skateboards, scooters.   Let's all do our bit to take care of them for many years of great play.

Rod Armstrong from Prestige Courts has done a wonderful job.  Big thanks to Jason Kane (Club Captain) for working with Rod over the duration of this project, and reinstating the nets today.   Thank you Chris Milne (Property and Fundraising Convenor) for persevering with and managing the grants process.

This significant project was made possible through grants from NZCT and the TAB, and of course from the contribution you made through player levies.  Thank you for your contribution, and for your patience with the courts being out of action.

Love Tennis Open Day

We are holding our annual Open Day, in conjunction with Tennis NZ's Love Tennis event, on the weekend of 10th and 11th of October. See all details here.

Club open with caution

In response to our status of Level 2, please note the following:

Contact Tracing is a must. QR Code posters are now in the club rooms to make this easier.

Cleaning and Hygiene - remember the basics.  Wash and dry your hands/equipment before and after playing.  Sanitiser, hand soap, and cleaning spray remains available on the club rooms. Exercise caution with common touch points like the gates and doors - wash or sanitise your hands after touching surfaces.

Court access - please drop an email to captain@mtc.co.nz to book courts at Level 2 (this does not replace contact tracing). See below

Gatherings - at Level 2 the restriction is up to 100 people indoors/outdoors.

Look after yourself and others - if you're not well, displaying systems of Covid-19, been asked to self-isolate, or you're waiting for a test result - please stay home.

Physical distancing & etiquette - you know the drill around keeping your distance - see below.

Covid-19 Advice

Advice from Tennis NZ about practicing good hygiene is attached.  If you're not feeling well, please rest and get better at home, your team mates will get by without you.

The key change on court is the introduction of the 'Racket bump'.  It's a wonderful part of sport that we acknowledge our opponent/s on court, please do this by bumping rackets rather than shaking hands.  We did this at interclub on Saturday and Junior champs on Sunday, it takes a moment to remember but everyone soon gets used to it.
